Finn Juhl's No.45

One thing I feel lucky to be in Japan today is to be able to see Finn Juhl's vintage manutactured by Niels Vodder, (some are even skeletons), for free!

There's a danish vintage furniture exhibition taken place at Rogoba-Tokyo (www.rogoba.co.jp) until 29th. (so it's not too late yet.) It's an expensive looking showroom in an expensive area so it takes great deal of courage to go inside if you ware duty, dusty cloth on. Anyway here's the number: US$21,000(approx.) for the skeleton body shown here. I guess it's worth it. I guess. It's genuine Niels Vodder vintage, famous model 45 plus even twin seat, they say they'll have it re-upholstered for free (so generous), I reckon it is rosewood frame. YOU should come hurry and buy it without seeing price-tag before too late! :)
Too bad they didn't let me take pictures... please be satisfied with the post card.

I found a curious fact... This seat-and-backrest frame (euro beech) was just off-the-bandsaw as there was  bandsaw mark left. And this part, shown below, they must have cut by free-hand bandsaw, I meal they twisted the piece as they pushed it forward... This is one of the craftsmanship people never see.

Now I believe they did make chair with rosewood. It must have smelled heaven in the shop.

Next post: Lumber yard in (almost) downtown Tokyo.

The 45 is the best chair ever designed. Hands down.

Hey Nick, Load, sorry for the slow response. how come we can't compete with 60 years old design?? In 40 years they'll be in category of Classic.

45's arm rest is the most comfortable one I've ever tried!
